2021 Pinot Noir 1.5L
Magnum Bottle
Beechworth, VIC
Light to medium density with bright red hues. Lifted red berry, bramble, cherry fruit notes – very attractive aromas. The palate starts out with crunchy red fruits complimented by the whole bunch used in fermentation and the French oak used. Lovely ripe tannins with a fresh acid backbone to carry the flavours right to the finish. The lingering after taste makes for a very enjoyable Pinot Noir.

Wine Profile
Vinification
Retention of fruit character is always important. Processing involved cold soak of the must for a few days and included approximately
30% whole bunches in the ferment. No post ferment maceration was under taken. Oak maturation was predominantly in used
French oak barriques and puncheons, an bottled at the 9-month mark.
Winemaker Comments
Brokenwood has been producing Pinot Noir from the Indigo Vineyard since 2002. As there are three clones planted over different sites, there is opportunity to process as a number of different parcels; hence we have the Varietal wines as well as Single Vineyard wines.
Good winter rain followed by an almost perfect growing season resulted in healthy vines with a balanced canopy. 160mm of rain in late January brought on a very compact harvest for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Thankfully the clouds cleared and all were varieties picked in clear weather.
Food Pairing
Duck and Pinot is a classic combination, also try with quail and
steak tartare.
Drink
Drinking well now however will improve with further bottle age.
