2024 Pinot Noir
Beechworth, VIC
Medium density with bright red hues. Lifted bramble and red cherry fruit notes – very attractive aromas. The palate starts out with crunchy red fruits complimented by the whole bunch used in fermentation and the French oak used. Lovely ripe tannins with a fresh acid backbone carry the flavours right to the finish. The lingering tang makes for a very enjoyable Pinot Noir.

Wine Profile
Vinification
Retention of fruit character is always important. Processing involved a cold soak of the must for a few days, including approximately 30% whole bunches in the ferment. No post-ferment maceration was
undertaken. Oak maturation was predominantly in used French oak barriques and puncheons, then bottled at the 9-month mark.
Winemaker Comments
Brokenwood has been producing Pinot Noir from the Indigo Vineyard since 2002. As there are three clones (114, 115 & MV6) planted over different soil types, there is an opportunity to process a number of different parcels; hence why, we have both our Varietal and our Single Vineyard wines very much down this bright fruit path. A challenging vintage at Indigo with a hard, late season frost in late October
dramatically impacting yield across the vineyard. Unfortunately, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were the most impacted. This resulted in uneven fruit maturation, requiring slow and careful picking. Despite the low yields, fruit condition was good, and harvest commenced under clear skies.
Food Pairing
Duck and Pinot is a classic combination, also try with quail and
steak tartare.
Drink
Drinking well now as a rich and young Pinot Noir.
